Getting Started with Kindergarten Registration
Welcome to Kindergarten! This is an exciting time for your child and family. Registering before the end of June will allow for a smoother transition, and you’ll learn about exciting summer learning opportunities to help you and your child get ready for Kindergarten. If you have questions about how to register or what you need, don’t worry! There is information below, and school districts are ready to help you and your family.
- When should I register my child? This year registration begins on January 17th, 2017. Click here for a helpful timeline.
- What school district am I in? If you don’t know what school district you are in, you can call the Family Health Hotline at 1-800-322-2588. Interpretation is available, and they can help you find out what school district your child will be attending Kindergarten in. If you find that you are not in one of the seven Road Map districts (Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, Seattle, Tukwila), you should still contact your district as early as possible to register your child.
- Once you know your school district you can either visit your neighborhood elementary school, or contact the district office by visiting or calling. School district contact information can be found here: School District Information
- What do I need to bring with me? Click here for a helpful list of information or documents that will help you register. If you do not have some of this information, that’s OK. Contact your school or district to find out what they might accept instead, or how to get the items you need.
